Literature Text

Chekov woke up, his whole back and both of his legs aching from how he curled up on his chair—, which was by no means comfortable—to his alarm clock’s annoying buzzing. Last night after you had fallen asleep, he convinced Sulu to give him the paperwork he was supposed to do for you. Chekov had stayed up a few hours later than he was used to, but the work was done, except for where you needed to sign. He stood up and stopped the alarm, stretching afterwards. He heard a few popping noises from his back and shoulders. When he glanced at you, you were still sound asleep.
Chekov laughed when he heard you snore loudly. The blanket he put over you last night was now bunched around you much like a shell. It was quite funny to watch, but he had to get you up soon. He nudged your shoulder, making you rock forward. Nothing happened. So, he did it again, but this time said your name. “(Y/n).”
Nothing. Chekov never had to wake someone up other than Christmas, when he woke everyone up. He didn’t know how to do it without jumping on the bed and yelling, “Merry Christmas!” That would be extremely misleading if he did that now.
“(Y/n),” he tried firmly. You stirred and finally opened your eyes. It took you time to adjust, then you saw Pavel. Still dazed and half asleep, you pulled some of the blanket off you and tossed it toward Pavel, “Sorry, was I taking all the blankets?”
After you said that, you fell asleep again. Chekov wanted to laugh. “No, (y/n), you have to get up.”
“I thought you were nice,” you groaned, rolling over and smiling at him to make up for your comment. He was struck breathless, seeing you like you were. Your eyes were wide from sleep, and your (h/c) hair was messy and all over the place. He wanted to be next to you in his bed and he wanted to hold you close. That wasn’t going to happen, he told himself. Never.
    “I am nice!”
“Then let me sleep,” you returned. Instead of leaving you alone, he laid next to you. “If you do not move, I will have to steamroll you.”
    “What?”
Chekov started rolling toward you and rolled over you, yelling, “Steamroller!” You squealed when he did it, and when he rolled over you again, you finally got up. “I’m up!”
“Zat wasn’t so hard, was it?”
You glared at him in response, making him laugh.
When the two of you arrived at your stations five minutes late and flustered from running, you were reprimanded. Of course, Kirk only laughed at Chekov and patted him on the shoulder. However, Giotto put you on cleaning duty. Luckily, there were a few others that were either late or out of line who also got cleaning duty. You ended up in Engineering, mopping wherever you could. At least Scotty was easy on you. He gave you breaks and told Giotto you had been cleaning during them.
During a visit to storage, because Engineering was extremely dirty and you needed more supplies, the ship was put on red alert. When you made it out of storage, it was hit by something, taking out a whole wall and opening the room to space. Hurriedly, you shut the door and activated the airlock. You stumbled back, hitting the wall. They were definitely fighting someone. You knew the Enterprise would be victorious, however. She always won.
“Sir, storage has just been hit,” Sulu announced. Jim looked like Sulu was speaking gibberish. “Storage? Why the hell did they hit storage?”
Sulu shrugged, and Kirk sighed,  “Fire back, take out their weapons if you can.”
    “Aye, sir.”
Kirk thought for a moment. He’d really have an advantage if they just didn’t know where they were hitting. The comm on his chair rang and he pressed the button, greeting with a terse, “Kirk here.”
“Captain, where were we hit?” Scotty asked worriedly. He never liked when Kirk got into fights. The ship always got hurt.
“Just storage,” Kirk replied. It wasn’t ‘just’ storage. Storage was a big thing, but people wouldn’t be there when the ship was on red alert. They could make it to the next Starbase without most of the supplies in storage, anyways.
“Ensign (y/n) was heading towards storage, sir.”
Kirk tensed up. He released the button and turned to Chekov, who was just as worried as Kirk by what Scotty had said. Without permission from the captain, Chekov stood up and  took off toward storage. He knew he was taking a huge risk and there would definitely be consequences from the captain, but he wasn’t thinking about that at the time. He wanted to know if you were in storage when it was hit. Kirk didn’t do anything but tell the other ensign to fill in for him. He would have done the same thing if he wasn’t the captain and hundreds of lives depended on him. Kirk made a mental note to talk to Chekov about that, though. He can’t just have the kid running around the ship whenever it has something to do with you.
Chekov’s lungs burned by the time he got there. He slid around corners, narrowly missing the wall on the other side. Eventually, he found you walking away from storage. “(Y/n)!” he called, filled with relief, and you turned around and stumbled back as he ran into you, engulfing you in a hug. He didn’t think he would be able to let go of you. Still quite shocked, you froze up. He cupped the sides of your face and looked at you like he couldn’t believe you were there. You weren’t dead. You were okay.
Chekov couldn’t help but do what he had wanted to do since he met you. He kissed you, pouring all his emotions into the kiss. Your eyes widened, then closed when you decided to kiss him back.
“I thought you were dead,” he explained and repeated after he hugged you again. You couldn’t believe what he had just done.
“Pavel, I can’t breathe,” you said jokingly, patting his back to tell him ease off. He let go of you and stepped back, his cheeks as red as your dress. He couldn’t believe what he had just done. He messed up big time. He was afraid everything would be awkward between you two now.
    “Sorry.”
You smiled and kissed his cheek. “We need to get back to work. See me after?”
    “D-da.”
You, of course, had a check up with McCoy after the storage incident. He had his tricorder all over you when you told him what happened. After the third hypo or so, he was done. You had no idea what was in those things, but he was always poking Jim and you with them. You sometimes wondered if Bones was slowly poisoning Jim every time he did something reckless. It was something you’d have to look into.
“You’re okay,” he grumbled. He still wasn’t completely satisfied. You smiled, “I told you I was fine.”
He waved his hand at you. Instead of getting up to leave, you bit your lip and swung your feet nervously. “Bones, can I ask you about something?”
    “Sure, kid.”
    “Chekov kissed me.”
“That’s not a question,” he returned curtly, crossing his arms. You felt like he could break into a lecture about sexually transmitted diseases any second. You were afraid for Pavel. Bones and Jim were brutal and would most likely team up against him.
“What do I do about it?”
He sighed, “I don’t know, talk to him?”
Bones was definitely going to have a serious talk with the kid after you did.
Chekov arrived at your cabin after work like planned. You were nervous, of course. You had been thinking of what to say to him ever since he kissed you. You were in the middle of pacing across the room when he knocked.
“Hey, Pavel,” you grinned. He smiled nervously at you. Pavel looked incredibly nervous and shaky. You probably looked the same, but you had to do something. Gathering all the courage you could, you reached up and placed a hand on his cheek, kissing him slowly. He smiled into the kiss and pulled you closer with little confidence. Trying to ease his nervousness, you reached up and played with his curls, pushing him closer to you.
Taking a step back, you pulled him into the room and let the door slide shut. Looking at him, you could see he was becoming more confident. He kissed you roughly with his hands carefully on your waist. When you needed air, he kissed his way to your neck, and you moved your head to give him more room. You moaned when he sucked the right spot, but you couldn’t help feel embarrassed. You slipped your hands under his gold shirt and tugged at it. Finally, he pulled back long enough to get the shirt off. In the process of taking his black undershirt off, he stopped.
“Um, (y/n), I am stuck,” he told you. You giggled and spent the next five minutes getting his shirt off. When you got it off, he looked embarrassed. You didn’t realize how toned he was until now. You laughed and wrapped your arms around him in a hug.
“So, are we like a thing now?”
“Da, I would like that wery much.”
    “Really?”
“Da,” was his reply. You were convinced he didn’t know how to say yes in English. Just after you let go of Pavel, your door rang and you looked at Pavel with a raised eyebrow. He stepped out of the way and let you answer the door. You could tell he was going to get his shirt back on. Jim was standing in front of you, his hands in his pockets.
    “Hey, (y/n)-- is that Chekov?”
“Uh,” you started, “yeah. It is.”
“Is he getting his shirt on? Why was his shirt off in the first place?”
When Chekov turned around, he saluted Jim immediately. “Captain.”
You glared at Jim, because you knew he was going to do something overprotective. Jim just looked at the two of you, speechless. Finally, he cleared his throat and spoke.
“You need to get out of her room, Chekov,” he stated. You placed a hand on Pavel’s chest to hold him back, “No you don’t, it’s fine.”
“I need to talk to you,” he pointed at Pavel.
    “No, you don’t,” you countered.
“I’m your captain,” he returned coldly. You narrowed your eyes at him. “I’m your niece.”
Jim shut up. He knew he wasn’t going to get anywhere with you. He said goodbye and left. You’d have to remember to apologize to him later. Right now, you didn’t want to speak to him. You felt bad for using the excuse that you were his niece. You wanted to stay professional for the most part, but with the way today has gone, it was in no way professional. The door slid shut, and Chekov looked at you confusedly.
    “He is your uncle?”
“Yeah,” you sighed. Pavel looked genuinely scared. You didn’t want to explain why you haven't told him and everything else now. “I’ll tell you about it later, okay?”
    “Okay.”
You kissed him chastely, “You want to go eat?”
    “Sure,” he smiled.
The mess hall was filled with the people just over with their shifts. You could spot Jim sitting with Bones and Spock. He was no doubt complaining. The two of you sat with Sulu like usual. He swallowed the food he was chewing and smiled. “Hey, guys.”
“Hey, Sulu. I was wondering, can I spar with you tomorrow?”
“I’d love to. How are you? After the storage incident and all that.”
    “I’m fine, thanks.”
The meal lasted longer than you wanted to, but you were glad to talk with them. Exhaustion set in toward the end of the meal, so you made an effort to finish eating. Once you were done with the small portion you had, you stood up to leave. “I’ll see you tomorrow,” you said. Pavel stood up quickly. “Can I walk you to your room?”
“If you want,” you smiled, and waved to Hikaru before you left. Chekov didn’t say anything when you started down the hall. You were afraid to start a conversation. Your room came up before either of you could get a word out. The door slid open to your code and you turned to Pavel.
“I will see you tomorrow, da?”
You grinned and kissed him softly. “Of course.”
“Goodnight,” he said, kissing you again.
    “Goodnight.”
Wow, so it's been forever since I've worked on this. I've got the next chapter started as well. I really want to continue this, because a lot of people like it. It's a bit shorter than the other chapters, I think. And I was watching Strange Brew the other day and that's where "steamroller" came from. It's an awesome movie by the way. I hope everyone enjoys this!
