Sherlock checked his phone for the seventh time in five minutes. He was counting.
5 new messages from John Watson
He chose to ignore those, knowing he was likely drunk or Mary had put him up to it.
Currently, he was sitting lazily in one of the chairs, trying to strike up a conversation with you. Although Sherlock didn't like talking, he needed to get rid of the awkwardness. Plus, he liked hearing you speak, but he would never admit that. Another ding came from Sherlock's phone; it was from Lestrade this time.
'Another murder. Victim found in an alley. -L'
He instantly felt excited, another murder, obviously from a different killer than the last case. You looked up from your book that you weren't paying attention to when Sherlock's voice was heard talking on the phone. "We'll be there in ten minutes," he said before closing the phone. You slammed the book shut and looked at him, waiting for an explanation.
"Another murder."
You knew what that meant. He already had his coat on by the time you had picked yours up. Your (h/c) hair was in a messy bun with your bangs hanging in your eyes, almost blinding you. You grabbed your small bag and followed Sherlock, who was already out the front door. Sherlock had just gotten into a taxi when you stepped in, too. He told the driver where to go; it was only several blocks away.
While you were quietly waiting, you fixed your hair trying not to look like you had just woken up. Sherlock stayed still the whole ride, except for writing a few texts which you assumed were to John. "It wasn't even an hour after you solved that last case. Don't you ever take breaks?" You asked.
"I don't need breaks."
The taxi had arrived at a large apartment building with police cars surrounding it. Sherlock had swiftly moved out of the car and surprisingly opened your door for you. By now it was dark out and your bangs were in your eyes. Your foot caught something hard, causing you to lose your balance and fall on your knees. "What the hell?" You asked angrily and stood up with Sherlock's help.
Lestrade met you and Sherlock at the police tape. He shook your hand first, then Sherlock's. Your friend said no words as he bent under the tape and made his way to the scene of the crime. You took your time, going over the facts with Lestrade.
A woman, mid-twenties, was shot approximately two hours ago. The one witness was a little girl, around ten, that had sneaked out of the house to play. "Poor girl," you said as she came into view.
The small girl in a pink dress was sitting at the end of an ambulance covered in a blanket. Her parents were off to the side discussing something with an officer. Her face was covered in tears. You ventured that way, knowing Sherlock would want to talk to her. You weren't going to let him near her; he'd only make her more depressed.
You bent down to her height and she lifted her face.
"Hey there, I'm (f/n)." Her dark hair was in pigtails held up by thin, purple bands. "Can you tell me your name?" You asked carefully. "Amelia," she answered slowly.
"Okay, Amelia. What did the cops ask you?" She looked back down, "They asked me what the man looked like."
"Can you tell me what you told them?" You were sorry to ask, but it was a lot better than what Sherlock would have done. "I couldn't see him, but he was big and scary." You smiled lightly, although the information would be of little or no use. "Thank you, Amelia. You helped us a lot. We'll make sure to catch him." She looked hopefully at you, "You promise?" She held out her pinky. You wrapped yours around it, "I promise."
"Thank you, (f/n)."
You smiled and stood upon hearing Sherlock call your name. You made your way to the crime scene, glancing back at the little girl. When you arrived, you gasped at what you saw. A sticky note covered a large hole directly in the middle of the woman's forehead.

Sherlock x Reader Chapter 5
After much muttering to yourself the dissection was finally complete. Remaining in your scrubs you sat down to type up the report when Sherlock appeared. Completely at home in the morgue he pulled on a pair of gloves and headed for the cadaver. He picked up the body’s left arm and inspected the underside of it.
“That’s it. Please go ahead and touch my dead body.”
You were possessive of those who resided in your morgue as it was your job to look after them for their family. Sherlock lowered the limb and scowled at you, annoyed at being told off. Instead he walked around the body before raising his eyebrow at you. He

Sherlock x Reader Chapter 3
You spent the entire journey staring at the road and ignore the silent conversation that was taking place between John and Sherlock. When the taxi finally stopped outside a modern block of apartments Sherlock leaped out without thanking the taxi drivers, leaving both you and John to thank him profusely.
Black and yellow tape marked out the police perimeter and Sherlock stood next to it whilst arguing loudly with an attending officer. A scowl formed on his face and he muttered to himself, you were pretty sure the word idiot passed over his lips more than once. Both you and John walked up to the sulking older man whose attention was firmly fi

Sherlock x Reader Chapter 7
The journey home was silent. Sherlock was clearly agitated by Mycroft’s warning, not that you had any idea who Mycroft was. You were dropped off at your own address and watched the black car pull away. Slowly it dawned on you that somehow you were involved in something that could turn out to be dangerous. Unable to sleep or think of any other than the case you hailed a cab and returned to the morgue, hoping to find something to distract you.
Upon entering the sterile environment you shrugged off the borrowed jacket and walked towards the slab. The same body lay there and you looked over it again, making sure that you had not missed any
